Instructions

To participate fully in Home 5Rhythms® online, there are a few things you will need to do before class:

Devices:

  • Make sure you have a device that will work well for class. A desk/laptop computer or tablet, ideally with external speakers or wireless earbuds. (If you don’t have external speakers or earbuds, your device’s speakers will work ok, the audio will just be more limited.) Your device should have a microphone and camera. The built-in ones are ok.

Platform:

  • We will use a platform called Zoom, it can be accessed from computer, tablet or smartphone / iPhone. If you have a computer, choose that over other options; not only will the sound be better but also you can interact more and see more of others. For the best sounds experience connect to either speakers or wireless headphones. Download zoom here: https://zoom.us/download
  • You can also access the session from a browser (internet) but it works better if you install the free and straightforward Zoom software How to use Zoom:
  • It just takes a few minutes to start it up the first time you use it. Please make sure you do this in advance of the class. If you are new to Zoom please do watch this introductory video from Zoom: https://www.youtube.com/embed/vFhAEoCF7jg
  • At the beginning of the class time, click on the meeting link. This will take you to a window where each of us can see each other in a grid on the computer. You will need to be in gallery view, to do this on computer go to the top right area of your zoom window and you will see the grid option button there. If you are on a phone swipe left for gallery view.
  • You will need to turn on your video - this option usually comes up when you join, if this doesn’t then go to the start video icon and click it on - bottom left on computers & phones.

Help:

  • Technical assistance will be available 15 minutes before class starts to help you up with technical details and getting oriented, so you may want to show up a bit early if it’s your first time.

Your Dance Space:

  • Choose and set up a dancing space for yourself – somewhere you will feel comfortable moving uninterrupted for our time together. Arrange the space to be calming and welcoming for you.
  • That might mean sweeping, adjusting lighting, creating a small installation (maybe a few precious objects, candles, a bowl of water), draping cloths over distracting items.
  • To help create a safe and sacred space for our practice, please plan to stay present and participating for the full session. Have fun. See you then!
